Sleek pay, oblique performance: Angus Taylor’s first government agency, the IPFA

As Angus is, again, saying no, no, no, to latest IPCC report, which includes concern, major, world in general, as well as Oz in particular, about over exploitation of land, here’s some background about how he came to be such an accomplished grifter:
“Nothing to see here,” said Scomo, following misconduct allegations over Angus Taylor allegedly trying to influence Josh Frydenberg to weaken laws to escape prosecution by a company he part owns.

What is Hyperloop? A Complete WIRED Guide |

That’s why the first hyperloop systems will likely target very specific use cases with built-in passengers and minimal political hurdles. They could connect an airport to a city center or public transit hub, or send cargo from a port to an inland distribution center, so trucks don’t have to crowd into already congested areas.

IPCC report findings threaten Australia’s food security

How sad is it that people like Minister for Energy and Emission Reductions insists that we must provide “choice” for folks to be able to consume as much energy as they like, in houses as big as, drive cars as big as, on freeways as big as….

This choice now means that, if the world consumed at rate of Australians, it would take 4 planets to regenerate resources.

Choice is no longer viable. More than 70% of agricultural land grows food for animals which are food for people. 25% of world emissions come from inefficiencies in food industry.

When will our Minister recognise he has no choice with reducing emissions from food/agriculture industry?

Australia still plagued by destructive policies of John Howard, our worst prime minister

Adding just one more, Australia used to have SAA, Standard Association of Australia, until it got corporatised, divisionalised, privatised and now owned from Hong Kong. It used to be able to prevent imports of stuff as ordinary as flammable cladding for buildings. Organisations like EPA were just copied from USA but just copies, no power. And F35 fighter jets picked without any input from RAAF, can’t even manage a round trip from Sydney to Melbourne without refuelling.

This Is Why BEVs Will Probably Beat FCEV In The Long Run

The video presenter also raises the problem of cost per mile. Although FCEVs normally get a decent range, refueling them is expensive. That’s a matter of the hydrogen-production scale. He does not even mention that hydrogen is mostly produced from natural gas. In other words, most of it currently comes from fossil origins.

Europe coal generation collapsed by 19% in first six months of 2019

“Now that carbon pricing is finally working with price approaching €30 per tonne, the economics have already shifted not only from coal to gas generation, but also from coal to clean generation.

And now the economics have changed, policymakers will now find it is much easier to support wind and solar, and to plan for a full transition from coal to clean.”

“Every country could achieve a 2030 coal phaseout, if they put their mind to it.”

The Times view on the British car industry’s troubles: Auto Delete

It is absurd that the Treasury still spends £9bn a year subsidising the internal combustion engine as a result of freezing fuel duty for nine years.” Meanwhile, Libby Purves writes in the lead comment article for the Sun that “the more we’re battered by climate change doom-mongering, the deafer we get to warnings”. Her comments were previously published in yesterday’s Times.
