Adding just one more, Australia used to have SAA, Standard Association of Australia, until it got corporatised, divisionalised, privatised and now owned from Hong Kong. It used to be able to prevent imports of stuff as ordinary as flammable cladding for buildings. Organisations like EPA were just copied from USA but just copies, no power. And F35 fighter jets picked without any input from RAAF, can’t even manage a round trip from Sydney to Melbourne without refuelling.
