GenCost doesn’t just rule out nuclear, it makes solar thermal impossible to ignore | RenewEconomy

GenCost’s findings on nuclear are worth revisiting this week, but so are its findings on solar thermal, as offering the lowest LCOE of any “flexible load, low emission” generation technology.

Spiky questions remain for AUKUS proponents • Inside Story

There is an alternative, but the debate looks like taking some time to shift

Way back when, proponents of nuclear pitched MAD (mutually assured deterrence) on basis that just USA and Russia would be reined in by such posture. Of course Military Industrial Complex has now won, internationally so doesn’t MAD = mutually assured destruction?

Cancel AUKUS why spend 2 x $5B to expand industry in each of USA and UK in such a dodgy ridiculously dodgy deal?

Is Australia’s brown coal hydrogen export project destined to fail? | RenewEconomy

hydrogen has a global warming potential 35 times that of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the first 20 years after its release into the atmosphere.
— Read on reneweconomy.com.au/is-australias-brown-coal-hydrogen-export-project-destined-to-fail/

why it doesn’t make any sense to export hydrogen or derived ammonia or methane. It might make sense send if used close to source to manufacture green steel etc. Japan has plenty ocean for wind farms to make its own hydrogen.
