Coalition’s reef advocate backs massive tree-clearing plan

Warren Entsch, Special Envoy for Great Barrier Reef, recently said his highest priority is removing plastic, now approves broadscale land clearing. That this revitalises farmland is doubtful, previous evidence is that, without trees, it leads to major erosion, fine clay which stays suspended for weeks. Whether it’s rivers or Reef, sunlight can’t penetrate, preventing photosynthesis of plant matter and clogging ingestion of coral and other organisms. COALition vandalism.
