Natural gas is actually migrating under permafrost, and could see methane emissions skyrocket if it escapes

Scientists say vast quantities of methane may be trapped beneath the permafrost, and it could escape if it thaws

Gas Carries Same Climate Clout as Coal, Study Shows,

Natural gas can carry as severe a climate impact as coal, a new study from the United States warned late last week, just as an Ontario power producer proposed a new gas-fired generating station in the Niagara Region city of Thorold.

We’ve heard forever that gas is 86 times more warming over 20 year period but who’s got 10 years? In 3 year elapsed time 200 times as bad as CO2!

Annual average CO2-e measured at Kennaook/Cape Grim reached 511 ppm in 2021, and 516 ppm globally. This is approaching twice the pre-industrial level of 278 ppm CO2-e in 1750.

New Maglev Berlin

๐Ÿ“ธ Look at this post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/9yfpfu7zZfAT6thV/?mibextid=K35XfP

Joint Venture in Shanghai delivered 32km Maglev complete in 4 years. Efficient energy use only 30% of electricity compared to old fashioned train, at 300kmh.

One thing often overlooked is steel wheels on steel rails, not much traction for accel/decel, needing 30km straight and level track to get to 300kmh. Maglev needs just 5km. Additionally ascend/descend steeler gradients. Much less cut and fill big earthmoving. Additionally tighter radius curves to divert around obstructions. No contact so no wear and tear. Always elevated so not disrupting ground level activities. Smaller, lighter and weight distributed along carriages, so lighter weight concrete shell construction modules. How can so many benefits be discarded?

For folks curious UK EV progress, despite Rishiโ€ฆ

2023 has been another good year for renewables and we now have a new interconnector with Denmark, as well as Norway, The Netherland, Belgium, Ireland and France. These allow us to export and import lower carbon energy.

The average price of grid electricity this year, per kWh, has been 9.5p. Right now it’s 5.4p/kWh.

Renewables again produced more of our grid energy than fossil fuels The average emissions per kWh has been 152g. Right now it’s 50g/kWh.

If you drive an EV (assuming grid charged only) your emissions per mile would be approx 30 – 50g or 23.75 – 31.66g per km. This should decrease annually.

Even with more EVs hitting our roads our electricity demand has continued to decline. EVs use substantially less energy than fossil fueled cars.

Another dud Snowy Hydro project, squandering over $1.5bn of taxpayersโ€™ money

Snowy Hydro’s Hunter Power Project has kept a low profile compared to Snowy 2.0 โ€“ but it has a strikingly similar list of troubles sending it over budget and off schedule.

with Snowy2, $35 Billion, imagine how many EVs with $35Billion for rebates, with V2H, so big $ power saving, not buying peak grid power and power when grid fails from vehicle battery.
