— Read on www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/saturdayextra/canada-wildfires/102463534

If news insurance, against fire, for houses in NE USA is no longer obtainable, along with no cover for flood damage, where will homeless find a mortgage? Same in Australia but nobody talking. Except Albo saying some recent buyers are guaranteed refund deposit but only for new house when builder fails.

I love electric vehicles – and was an early adopter. But increasingly I feel duped

Sadly, keeping your old petrol car may be better than buying an EV, says actor Rowan Atkinson
— Read on web.archive.org/web/20230603152230/https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jun/03/electric-vehicles-early-adopter-petrol-car-ev-environment-rowan-atkinson

“You can now make a car for £15,000 that, with tender loving care, will last for 30 years. It’s sobering to think that if the first owners of new cars just kept them for five years, on average, instead of the current three, then car production and the CO2 emissions associated with it, would be vastly reduced. Yet we’d be enjoying the same mobility, just driving slightly older cars.

The aircraft worth $120 million on purchase was a write off, Australia should have demanded Boeing replace the aircraft without cost.

Want more cycling, e-bikes and scooters? It’s time to start asking the right questions – The Fifth Estate

CYCLING SERIES No 5: If we’re serious about reaching net zero emissions from our cities by 2050, then we need to have some serious conversations about how we get about.

Just imagine if roads needed to pay rates, considering they consume 50% of real estate in urban areas? How much of housing problem could be fixed by reducing size of roads? As they get bigger they just cause more congestion?

Need to change Transport

Transport is now our second biggest emitter with too little too late changes. When real estate is in crisis for people, we waste 50% of urban space dedicated to cars(Dallas and Houston 70%)!!

And this doesn’t even mention huge $ for petrol/diesel imports and we’re only country in OECD without emission regulation for vehicles, so new cars here are thirstier, dirtier and slower thanks to Howard-Costello Economic Rationalism!!
