Tipping points? Can we really not see them? Do we need to be a little more cautious?

So much enthusiasm for thorium reactors

Such high priority tech!! How promising are expectations after 70 odd years no progress?

Experimental at Oak Ridge in 1950s and 60s – MSR program closed down in the early 1970, after which research stagnated in the United States.[15][16] Today, the ARE and the MSRE remain the only molten salt reactors ever operated.

Climate scientists: concept of net zero is a dangerous trap

Prominent academics, including a former IPCC chair, round on governments worldwide for using the concept of net zero emissions to ‘greenwash’ their lack of commitment to solving global warming.

EXTRACT – It’s astonishing how the continual absence of any credible carbon removal technology seems to never affect net zero policies.

Whatever is thrown at it, net zero carries on without a dent in the fender. For some time I assumed I was merely ill-informed or over-cautious. I’ve now realised that we have all been subject to a form of gaslighting. Whether it’s BECCS, afforestation, direct air capture or carbon absorbing unicorns, the assumption is that net zero will work because it has to work.

But beyond fine words and glossy brochures there is nothing there. The emperor has no clothes!!!!!!!!.

Climate Economic Impact Underestimated

Ever wonder how economists sometimes come up with climate damage estimates that seem..overly optimistic? Financial Times (Paywal): Financial …

Climate Economic Impact Underestimated

For example, an assessment of global gross domestic product loss in a so-called “hothouse” world of 3C higher temperatures by a group of 114 central banks and financial supervisors, known as the Network for Greening the Financial System, did not include “impacts related to extreme weather, sea-level rise or wider societal impacts from migration or conflict”.

As a result of such overly “benign” models, large financial institutions had reported that they would suffer minimal economic impacts if the world warmed by significantly more than 1.5C higher than pre-industrial levels, it
