Up front rebates for electric vehicles cannot be considered as subsidies( in no way equivalent to massive diesel excise subsidies). Rebate for new EV recognises 15 years or so lifecycle, during which no foreign exchange liability to import petrol/diesel, with further savings of global warming emissions especially as climate emergency hastens transition to renewable electricity for charging EV batteries.
