2023 has been another good year for renewables and we now have a new interconnector with Denmark, as well as Norway, The Netherland, Belgium, Ireland and France. These allow us to export and import lower carbon energy.
The average price of grid electricity this year, per kWh, has been 9.5p. Right now it’s 5.4p/kWh.
Renewables again produced more of our grid energy than fossil fuels The average emissions per kWh has been 152g. Right now it’s 50g/kWh.
If you drive an EV (assuming grid charged only) your emissions per mile would be approx 30 – 50g or 23.75 – 31.66g per km. This should decrease annually.
Even with more EVs hitting our roads our electricity demand has continued to decline. EVs use substantially less energy than fossil fueled cars.
