Keith Pitt: Australia will keep selling coal for as long as the world keeps buying it

Resources Minister Keith Pitt has defended Australia’s decision not to join more than 40 countries which have signed a commitment at the Glasgow climate talks to phase out coal used for electricity generation. He says the Government will continue to sell Australian coal for as long as the world is willing to buy it.

sounding like a drug cartel boss, Pitt rants Australia will sell while anybody buying – he might just as well be marshalling enforcers in Opium wars or peddlers in addict territories in our own cities.

But “drugs” with side effects of global warming damage whole of planet life forms, not just addicts. So should peddling coal be a criminal offence?
