Should we be considering nuclear power as an alternative to coal?

Ian Lowe started out his career as a scientist excited about the possibilities that nuclear energy could offer, but over time he has changed his mind when considering the risks that nuclear energy also poses. Over the 100 years since uranium was found in Australia, the issues of nuclear waste and resource stewardship have never been resolved but the possibility of including nuclear power in our energy mix keeps coming back to the table.
