Humanity’s choice (via IPCC): Aggressive climate action ASAP (left figure) minimizes future warming. Continued inaction (right figure) results in catastrophic levels of warming, 9°F over much of U.S. 2014 IPCC report finds annual cost of avoiding that catastrophe is cheap, a mere 0.06% of annual growth (range 0.04% to 0.14%)…Global GDP is around $75 trillion…<so, for> world to spend $1 trillion/year…cheap…<for> not destroying livable climate for 1,000 years…<if you earn> $100,000/year, would it be “cheap” to spend, say, $1,000 a year to protect yourself from a potentially catastrophic failure of your health?…so, 0.06% is cheap, needed action well understood…if only it were easy!!
