An Airbnb or Uber for the Electricity Grid?

Not just in USA but as close as NSW, changes are making people less dependent on big corporate monopoly electricity supply. “Virtual Net Metering” is the name of the game, selling your(or community) surplus power, directly, to other private(or public) individual(s). If the world has virtual currency with BitCoin, surely we can buy and sell power? Of course, Deniers insist that big “baseload” suppliers need to be protected, except big power stations are now dropping below 50 and even 40% demand.
