The Press Council has upheld a complaint against The Australian about a story it published in September 2013, a week before the release of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC).

Finally the press watchdog gave the paper a bite for not admitting its mistake to readers, frankly, directly and much earlier, adding: It is a matter of considerable concern that this approach was not adopted. — Australian Press Council, 24th July, 2014
And take it from me, that’s about as strong as the Press Council can get.
