First wind farm planning permit approved since new Vic laws introduced

The first planning permit for a wind farm since new planning laws were introduced in Victoria has been granted, with Buloke Shire Council giving the all clear to a 5-turbine development yesterday. The Coonooer Bridge wind farm, is owned by Windlab Systems and around 30 nearby landholders and is the first in the country to combine private and community ownership. “Over my 10 years in the industry I have seen that it can bring a new drought free income stream into regional areas,” Luke Osborne, a director of the newly established company Coonooer Bridge Wind Farm Pty Ltd and also an employee of Windlab.
