…most CO2 is absorbed by oceans over a few hundred years, first into surface waters, and eventually into deeper waters… vast, surface waters absorb so much CO2, then currents of fresh water, from the deep, swallow more…several thousand years for most of remaining CO2 dissolved into ocean, to react with chalk in ocean sediments…never soak up enough CO2 to return atmospheric levels to what they were before industrialisation…slowest process of all is rock weathering…atmospheric CO2 reacts with water…weak acid dissolves rocks…. would take hundreds of thousands of years for these processes to bring CO2 levels back to pre-industrial values
