…most CO₂ is absorbed by oceans over a few hundred years, first  into surface waters, and eventually into deeper waters… vast, surface waters absorb so much CO₂, then currents of fresh water, from the deep, swallow more…several thousand years for most of remaining CO₂ dissolved into ocean, to react with chalk in ocean sediments…never soak up enough CO₂ to return atmospheric levels to what they were before industrialisation…slowest process of all is rock weathering…atmospheric CO₂ reacts with water…weak acid dissolves rocks…. would take hundreds of thousands of years for these processes to bring CO₂ levels back to pre-industrial values
