Because current type aircon fluid is still a worry with hole in ozone layer, Dow Chemical, with Honeywell, have spent squillions developing a replacement. For car aircon, first adopter is Mercedes. But fault simulation exposes fireball and poison problem. Ironically, an alternative is to use CO2 instead, maybe not expensive enough for them.
