India Today says the capital New Delhi has experienced a “severe heatwave”, according to the India Meteorological Department (IND). Tribune says that “the mercury crossed the 50C mark in Rajasthan’s Churu” over the weekend. In an interview in the New Indian Express, Dr KJ Ramesh, the IND’s director general of meteorology, says “there is no other option but to change our practices and lifestyle to tackle climate change”.
