$50 million budget fix for coastal degradation

Beach erosion in SA – $28.4 million will see the long-awaited completion of a sand recycling pipeline from Semaphore to West Beach, as well as sand dune restoration and revegetation in partnership with local councils and coastal community groups.

Sand builds up on northern beaches such as Semaphore, but erodes along the southern and central coast including West Beach, Henley Beach and Seacliff.

“At present, beach volumes are the lowest since measurements began in the 1970s,” he said in a statement.

**Looks like they’ve already spent generously on big rocks, attempting to “stabilise” top edge of the beach.
