Exporting taxpayers money – car industry

Yet again, The Age 25 Jan, asks “Is it the end of the road?” for big six cylinder engined cars from Ford and Holden.  Internationally competitive car production lines can make more in 1 day than Falcons in 1 month. For Commodore, 2 days v. 1month. And Federal Government keeps spending from allocated $6,300Million to prop up manufacturers of guzzlers, for Green Car development.

Meanwhile, Ford and GM return profits to Detroit! From one senior Holden person  ”In today’s driving environment, a 1.4-litre turbo has got all the poke you need.” Why do we prolong the agony, subsidising industry with ever declining productivity, giving away taxpayers money for export? Gotta be time to stop.
